Seoul — first time east

First time in Asia. I’d built the city up in my head for years off other people’s photos and it still didn’t prepare me.

What stuck

• The 3am noodle bar in Mapo-gu — the owner kept refilling my water and didn’t speak a word.
• A walk along the Han at dusk that I want to repeat for the rest of my life.
• How effortlessly the city scales from skyscraper to alley to mountain in ten minutes.

What I’d do differently

• Stay longer. Two weeks is the trailer; you need a month for the film.
